PUI-KA CHENG
PUI-KA is a freelance actor, dubbing artist, puppeteer, mother of two daughters, from Hong Kong. Currently Manchester based, she graduated from the Chinese University of HK (Degree in Statistics) and the Drama School of HK Academy of Performing Arts (Major in Acting).
Pui-Ka keeps exploring the possibility of body and voice and hopes to find out some connection with soul, ontology and the world.
DRIFT
Drift is a story is based on Pui-Ka’s experiences as both a mother and a daughter, exploring the feelings of being part of a border-crossing community and drifting through the world.
Drift will showcase her puppetry expertise, using the backdrop of multimedia projection and live traditional music that tells the story of her lived experience of intergenerational migration from China to Hong Kong to Manchester.
The performance combines elements of monologue, physical theatre, puppetry, live music, and video.
Collaborators
Attached to the project is Sound and Music Director, Lung Wei Tsui, who will be playing the erhu in Drift.
The Video Designer on Drift is Wilfred Wong, who formed experimental art group HerStory Polygon, whose works were performed across the globe including Scotland, Macau, Japan, China and more.
