NUSANTARA FOLK PANTO

Oxbow Theatre Co present a folk pantomime with British foundation and ancient South East Asian embellishment.

This show has the foundation of traditional British pantomime, embellished with Nusantara (ancient South East Asia) folk beauty and joy.

This folk pantomime has everything you would expect; adventurous heroines, a handsome prince, a glamourous dame and a boo-worthy villain! You will find them all mixed up in a world that is a fusion of western and eastern folk cultures.

We have created original music to accompany traditional South East Asian folk dances and to house familiar melodies. The fusion we have achieved is reflective of an increasingly blended world, where people of different heritages may find themselves reflected back in unexpected ways.

With the gratitude raising adventures of Ghibli films, mixed with the soothing greenery of The Secret Garden. This pantomime is designed with relaxed performances in mind for the mini whimsical young wonders as an alternative to exist alongside the rock ‘n’ roll pantos of contemporary times.
