Naomi Sumner

Naomi is a Manchester based playwright and dramaturg and leads new writing company Brush Stroke Order. She began writing for the stage in 2013 and her work has been performed at the Manchester 24:7 Theatre Festival and numerous theatres across the North of England including Oldham Coliseum, York Theatre Royal, CAST and Harrogate Theatre. She has also had work performed at Theatre 503 and The Arcola Theatre in London.

In 2017 she was selected for the BBC Northern Voices writers group and in 2020 her script BANANA SPLIT saw Naomi make it through to the final interview stages for BBC Drama room. She is currently developing an original T.V. Drama script with BBC Writersroom.

In 2019 her play SAME SAME DIFFERENT, commissioned by Eclipse Theatre toured to venues across the North of England. In July 2020, Naomi made her first digital piece of work "Wait I'm From Wuhan" one of six digital commissions by Chinse Arts Now and part of the Homemakers series of commissions hosted by HOME Manchester. Naomi also works as a freelance script reader for The National Theatre and Theatre 503. She has previously read for The Royal Exchange Theatre, Sheffield Theatres and Papatango Theatre Company.
