Matthew Koon

Matthew is an actor/dancer with extensive experience in multiple mediums across the performing arts and is based between Manchester and Leeds. He is an alumni of Yellow Earth Performers Academy Manchester 2020 and is currently specialising in screen acting at both the Yorkshire Academy of Television and Film Acting and IPM Academy. He is currently enjoying collaborating with BESEA theatre companies on various projects and is keen to continue making connections within the community. 

He began his career in acting at the age of 12 as Billy in the West End musical ‘Billy Elliot’. He has since pursued a career in ballet and is currently a First Soloist at Northern Ballet, in Leeds, and has toured nationally and internationally with the company, performing roles such as Romeo in Jean Christophe Maillot’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’, Peter in David Nixon’s ‘Peter Pan’, Bruno in Daniel De Andrade’s ‘The Boy In the Striped Pyjamas’ and also Young Gatsby in David Nixon’s ‘The Great Gatsby’. 

Matthew was a finalist on the first season of Sky 1’s televised dance competition ‘Got To Dance’ and has also appeared, both as a dancer and an actor, in multiple commercials and music videos with artists such as No Rome.
